About The Real Iron Men of Hockey

We are fathers, grandfathers, great grandfathers, husbands, partners, widowers.

We are teachers, accountants, mechanics, architects, civil / public servants, electricians, farmers, lawyers, mariners, builders, photographers, salesmen, firemen, postmen, homebuilders, policemen, engineers, bankers, professors, scientists, plumbers, restauranteers, preachers, navy men, air-force men, carpenters, coal miners, real estate salesmen, judges, pilots, artists, automobile salesmen, business managers, self-employed and so much more.

We are goalies, left wing, right wing, centermen, rovers, and defensemen.

We are a mix of Canadians and Americans, all 80 years of age and older who love the game of ice hockey.

I want to dedicate this book to 3 of our stars who passed away in 2020: Mark Sertich of Minnesota, Tom Mills of Florida, and Larry Bergeron of Quebec.

It was an honor to have known and played with these fine gentlemen. Our fraternity will greatly miss.

So I pass the puck to the next generation who continue to play into their 80’s and 90’s with hope that future stories will be documented and told.

— Fred Merchant
